Where will we be going for our 49th reunion?

Carmel and Monterey, California...2012 "49er" ReunionDates: October 12 - 15, 2012 |
"How appropriate that the 49th reunion weekend be held in the Golden State of California! Many of the 49ers of Gold Rush fame who came from the East Coast had to negotiate a crossing of the Appalachian Mountains, taking to riverboats in Pennsylvania, polling the keelboats to Missouri River wagon train assembly ports, and then travelling in a wagon train along the California Trail. Happily, our travel this year will be much more simple, involving a flight from the East Coast and a rental car to drive from the San Francisco or San Jose airport to the Monterey Peninsula.
And, just as it was for so many of those 49ers of yesteryear, the trip will be more than worth it!"
We have done our due diligence for this year's 49th reunion weekend by visiting Carmel recently and meeting with the manager of the Best Western Carmel Bay View Inn. While meeting with her, it reconfirmed our conviction that this is truly the place we should stay – the staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful, and we know that the Carmel Bay View Inn will do everything possible to make our visit an enjoyable one.
We have reserved a block of 5 rooms for the nights of Thursday, October 11, to Monday, October 15, and an additional 10 rooms for, Friday, October 12, to Monday, October 15. Gene Borstel and Sandy Silva

There are so many things to see and do as well as just relax and take in the the scenery. Janet and I have visted here several times and each visit we felt that this beautiful area deserved a special long weekend to explore. What better way to discover this special destination than with old and special friends. The weather is best in October when the offshore breezes are present for us to enjoy. As more information is avaialable you can find it here. Carl Petersen
